We have been getting alerts from our monitoring system for both of our Abovenet connections.

Initial investigations show that traffic is traversing both connections normally however we are unable to ping the interfaces of any of the Abovenet routers.

We actually connect to four Abovenet routers, two in each location and use VRRP for redundancy but we are unable to ping any of these interfaces.

We have sent a priority ticket to Abovenet and are awaiting a response.

We will post more information here as it becomes available. If necessary we will completely disable the Abovenet connections so that traffic will flow through alternative connections (Level3, Entanet etc).

We have just received the following from Abovenet:

Please be advised that AboveNet has experienced a network event thatt may be affecting your service. Our engineering is en route to investigate, however there is no ETA/ETR; more update will be provided as they become available.

Abovenet have informed us that the situation is now resolved. We are awaiting a full explanation.
