WE are currently investigating some issues with connecting to the networks of various peers across the LINX Brocade LAN. We have temporarily shut down LINX brocade LAN peering until we have determined the cause of the issues so traffic will be flowing through alternative connections instead. Customer may still have difficulties connecting to some networks if those networks have not shut down their LINX connections yet.

...which shows the extent of the outage in the UK. So even though we at Secura Hosting Ltd had routed around the issue within minutes unfortunately that was not the case for most other UK networks so our customers will have still seen unavoidable packet loss to various destinations regardless.
We are awaiting an update from LINX and will post information as we can.
Additionally it would appear that at the same time as this issue there was a power outage in one suite in Telehouse North which we understand heavily affected connectivity of the London Access Point (LoNAP). LoNAP is a small competitor to LINX but with both exchanges out at the same time this will have had far reaching consequences across the UK Internet.

(Please note: We are not a member of LoNAP but have posted this link to the public LoNAP stats merely to indicate how widespread the issues were here in the UK and of course between traffic coming in and out of the UK).
We have received an initial indication from LINX that the Brocade peering LAN is now stable but we at Secura Hosting Ltd will not be re-enabling our Brocade peering port until more of a detailed explanation is forthcoming from LINX. Please note: Our LINX Extreme connection has remained up throughout as have our three main transit connections.
